A child born in the United Kingdom yesterday was named Damien by his horror fan mother.

I recently bounced a few baby names off of my girlfriend, almost all of which were shot down. Who wouldn’t want to name their child Satanico Pandemonium? A couple weeks after this discussion, my girlfriend mentioned that she always considered Damien to be a nice name. I argued that he would forever be associated with The Omen, but she countered that by that time most people wouldn’t make the connection. Unless, of course, there was yet another remake in thirty years time.

She dropped the idea after I told her I would feel compelled to scream “It’s all for you, Damien!” whenever speaking to the child. Example:

“Thanks for the ice cream, dad.”

“It’s all for you, Damien! It’s all for you!”
