Well, it looks more like House Of The Dead 2 than Day Of The Dead...but I'm easy to please. I'm in-it can NOT be worse than the Return Of The Living Deads most recent exhumations.
I hope.

This isn't related to that awful Day of the Dead II: Contagium, is it? I still get mad when I think of that one.

I don't know, I really liked the Dawn remake (even though it was pretty far removed as well). This one does seem more action oriented though. I don't think you can fault the movie on acting, Land had about as bad of acting as you can get.

[...] Thanks to The Horror Blog for bringing this to my attention. There is a YouTube trailer floating around for the movie. From the trailer, only Ving Rhames is a holdover from the Dawn remake. I don’t know if any of the other actors will be in this or not. Nevertheless, I have to disagree (only slightly) with The Horror Blog’s impression of it. While it does seem action heavy from the trailer, I don’t know if that’s definitely going to be the case in the film (trailers highlight certain marketable aspects, such as action). I also don’t agree that the acting is all that bad; certainly not as bad as Land of the Dead’s atrocious acting jobs.
David - I'm with you there. I think at this point, with so many horror remakes having already been churned out, I'm far beyond the possibility of being upset. As long as it's chock full of mayhem, count me in.

Jeff - I don't believe it has anything to do with anything, be it Day of the Dead II, the Dawn of the Dead remake or Night of the Living Dead.

Matthew - What bearing does another film's acting have on my ability to pass judgement on this one? Besides, I must have missed something you caught because I wasn't particularly upset with the acting in Land, and thought that John Leguizamo was easily the most intriguing actor in the entire series.

It would be interesting to see the origin of the virus - what's causing people to turn into zombies? Something like Resident Evil. (I'm not talking about those silly movies, but the video game which is much better) At least just a little clue as to where it came from.

I think it's most fascinating in a movie, when someone is bitten by a zombie and then you can see the transformation in them. It is a terrifying experience. Running away from zombies is also a great thrill. For Example, the first scary scene in Dawn of the Dead, where the main character runs away from her zombie husband. That was great!

I just hope that this horror film doesn't put too much humor into it, and focuses more on the horror of really being in a situation like that.

I don't know what's up with Ving Rhames in Day of the Dead being cast as Captain Rhodes, instead of Kenneth from the Dawn of the Dead movie. Perhaps there's no relation to Dawn?
