Horror Roundtable - Week Nineteen
Name an illicit activity you’ve committed that was brought on by your love for horror.

I stole some of my brother’s paper route money once to buy an Aurora Frankenstein model. He accused me of it immediately, but I didn’t fess up to it until we were both fully grown adults. He was still mad.

Watching Nightmare on Elm St 2, and being totally freaked out by it as we knew should not be watching it, especially the bit when Freddy came out of Jesse’s stomach. From then on, I think my love for horror grew and I wanted to see more and more, with the Video Nasties top of my list!
Does killing nubile young ladies and storing their bodies in my basement count? Oh, snap, did I just say that out loud?

I don’t know if this is illicit really, but I used to skip school to go sneak into early shows of the horror flicks that used to haunt the cinemas. My best/worst experience had to be getting to see Nightmare City during school 4 times in one day. I was ejected the first time by an usher after screeching “HOLY SHIT” as the Aerobicide sequence was going on-and snuck back in the theatre and watched the next showing. Then I watched the next…and finally was ejected during the first night showing when I just HAD to go to the bathroom. The same damn usher saw me…
It was all worth it.
I remember when I borrowed a horror movie from my brother when I was maybe 10 or 11 and bringing it to my buddy’s house to watch during a weekend sleepover. Knowing that my friend’s parents were heavy into the baby Jesus and often checked the movies first, I made sure to pick a movie of Steve’s without any explicit gore on the cover. Sure enough, his pops asked to see the VHS and I gladly handed him Steve’s copy of “Orgy of the Dead”. I mean, what’s an “or-gee”, right? Oi.
Steven
Apparently I let my little brother take Orgy of the Dead to a sleepover.
The authorities are going to be very interested in this roundtable. What a bunch of badasses.
