The image on the far left in the second row is Cannibal Girls, one of Ivan Reitman's first films, starring Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin before they hit it big with SCTV. I have fond, possibly false memories of this film being shown on CityTV (the inspiration for Videodrome's Civic TV) as part of a Thanksgiving tradition. I don’t want to leave David Z. hanging any longer. No matter how much I begged, pleaded and cried, he was adamant. I got sent to bed. I cried for an hour then finally drifted into sleep. The next day I was still upset as I thought the opportunity to watch was gone as I didn't understand how network TV really worked. I thought the movie had disappeared forever never to appear on TV again. Later, as I grew up I immersed myself in the horror/sci/fi genre and now, almost 30 years later, have an expansive sci/fi collection of movies and have literally seen thousands of films from Dario Agentio to John Carpenter to Wes Craven. I enjoyed the intensity of the genre so much I began writing my own stories. I eventually self-published a horror novel in 2003 that had won accolades from multiple reviewers and critics. In 2007 I rewrote my book and stepped up the horror and shock of the story. But after all these years and all these horror films I never really had time to revisit the movie that began it all: I have yet to see 'Altered States.' Please sample my book for free here.
