Ill-advised. The only time you should burn a zombie is if that zombie is in a deep pit they can't crawl out of and you're standing above them with a flamethrower. And even then, that's just cruel treatment. Using fire on a zombie is not just impractical, it's sadistic too. Even zombies deserve to be put down with some dignity. Stick to putting a bullet in the head.

Newbie mistake. The zombies will just keep stumbling around, igniting everything they touch until if/when the fire finally kills them. Even if you're outdoors, the last thing you need is a walking fireball-now you're trying to escape not only burning zombies, but also a raging inferno. Post-zombiegeddeon worlds don't have a fire department on hand, and any firefighters that do respond just get eaten/infected, and now you've just made the problem worse. And let's not get into what will happen when the zombies ignite something really flammable, like gasoline.

Fire should only be used when the zombies are herded into a pit/moat. That's it.
