Contest - Happy Ending
I may have been hasty in denouncing the new, sunnier ending concocted for the most recent adaptation of I Am Legend. I’ve spent the last 24 hours, both asleep and awake, happily imagining new ways to end the film.
For instance, the creatures capture Will Smith and drag him blindfolded to his fate. They reach their destination, take off the blindfold, and Will Smith discovers that they’ve resculpted the Statue of Liberty in his image, with the inscription “I Am Lejend” scratched into the base, not unlike the statue of Michael Jackson from the infamous HIStory video. Speechless in his disbelief, Will Smith turns to the leader of the creatures who rests his hand on Smith’s chest and intones, with some difficulty, the word “Friend”. Will Smith replies in kind, and the screen fades to black as the sun rises on a new day.
Leave your own faux-happy endings, for I Am Legend or any other downbeat horror movie, in the comments below. My favourite entry will receive a DVD copy of the surprisingly fun Flight of the Living Dead as well as any other goodies I can gather together.
Thanks to JA for “Lejend”.

I think no matter how I AM LEGEND ends, Charlton Heston should throw himself on the bejeweled switch for The Bomb and blow up the entire planet.
Actually, I wish most movies would end that way.

I wish all movies ended that way. That and the main character yelling his own name in triumph.

With the living dead lurching through the door, Ben and Barbra look doomed. But Barbra accidentally spills a glass of water onto her brother, returning him to normal. They all realize the zombies’ secret weakness is water, so they throw buckets of water around and save the Cooper family and all the other zombies. As the sun rises, a gentle rain starts, creating a brilliant rainbow.

I’m a big rainbow fan, but your ending could have used a little more unicorn.

Turn the zombies into Sleestack. Everyone knows that you can outrun them, and they can’t shoot an arrow worth a damn.

I Am Legend:
As the monsters surround Will Smith, they recognize him from all of his album covers, and instead of eating him, they ask him to teach them the joys of music. The film closes as he leads them in a massive hip-hop dance number in Times Square, set to the first single on the soundtrack.
