The Horror Blog Monster Rally Champions!

We have a winner!

With an enormous 82% win over The Blair Witch and Ghoulies, The Blind Dead have come out on top of The Horror Blog Monster Rally. When asked to comment on their win, a representative for the Blind Dead replied, “What the fuck is this? The Stanley Cup?” No, it’s actually a miniature replica of the Stanley Cup. Enjoy!

Thanks to all the Roundtable participants who suggested combatants for the Rally, particularly David Z. who provided us with The Blind Dead, thereby proving his superiority over all others. Make sure you read David’s homage to the undead Templars, Ascension of the Blind Dead.

And while I was the only person to successfully predict that The Blind Dead would sweep the competition, John B. came closest of the contestants in the Monster Rally Office Pool with his guess of Pinhead. John has won a copy of LovecraCked - The Movie, a DVD compilation of Lovecraftian shorts courtesy of Biff Juggernaut, and a copy of My Dead Girlfriend, the latest film by Brett Kelly and one of my favourite films of the year, from Tempe Video.

Thanks to everyone who voted. Let’s never speak of this again.

The Horror Blog Monster Royale Rumble!

null

Here it is. The final no-holds-barred cage match between the last three contestants in The Horror Blog Monster Rally.

Who will come out on top? The cadaverous menace of The Blind Dead? The subtle woodland madness of The Blair Witch? Or the pint-sized prickliness of The Critters? This is quite possibly your one and only chance to engage in true democracy.

Three walk in. Only one slithers out. Vote in the sidebar.

Blair Witch Vs. Ghoulies

And you thought the Critters vs. Pinhead match-up didn’t make any sense. Here it is, the final fight before next week’s battle royale. The master of creepy folk arts, the Blair Witch, paired up against those commode commandos, the Ghoulies. I’ve gotta tell ya, I’m so glad I’m almost done making up crazy nicknames for this shit. It’s exhausting. As usual, vote for your favourite in the sidebar, and make sure you get your licks in for the Blind Dead/Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees debacle while you’re at it.

The Blind Dead Vs. Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers

It’s Eurotrash Templars versus all-American Slashers in today’s Horror Blog Monster Rally. Choose your side and vote for either The Blind Dead or the tag team of Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers. Just remember, like the Man in Black says, sooner or later God’s gonna cut ‘em down.

And while you’re at it make sure you get a vote or two in for the Critters/Pinhead rumble.

Critters Vs. Pinhead

We’re really getting into the nitty gritty now. Today two of The Horror Blog Monster Rally’s favourite combatants clash. Who has the sharper instruments of destruction? Those carnivorous creeps from the cosmos, the pugnacious prince of perniciousness, or my thesaurus? Cast your ballot in the sidebar for the monster you most want to see make it to next week’s finale!

Ghoulies is the Wild Card

What an upset! If you’ve been following the Horror Blog Monster Rally at all, you know that it hit a snag with the selection of the wild card. Every one of the discarded contestants were eligible to be repositioned in the Monster Rally during its final days. While the poll was only supposed to run over the weekend, a three-way tie between Leatherface, Samara and Sammi Curr prompted me to let it continue until a clear winner was possible. I fully expected one of the three top contenders to take it, but the Ghoulies came up from out of nowhere and swept the race. This was no doubt influenced by the grassroots campaigning of David Z. to see the Ghoulies given a second chance.

Due to the extended Wild Card competition, the regular Monster Rally will resume next week, in what is surely the most dragged-out contest the internet has ever witnessed.

Wild Card

wildcard

We’re down to the final five contestants in The Horror Blog Monster Rally, and they are The Blind Dead, Critters, The Blair Witch, Pinhead and the tag team of Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. Congratulations to everyone whose favourites made it this far.

But wait! If your main monster didn’t make it to the final five, there’s still hope! Since there is an odd number of remaining contenders, we need one more to even it out. In the sidebar you will find a poll which you can use to vote back in one of the creatures that didn’t make it to the final five. Now’s your chance to upset the competition. The poll will be up all weekend through to the beginning of next week, and if you want to see your punch drunk underdog make it to the end, feel free to use the comments section to implore your fellow horror fans to vote your way.

Werewolf Vs. The Blind Dead

werewolfvsblinddead

Man, those undead Knights Templar cannot get a break when it comes to werewolves. First they had to shake off Silvia Perschy, then Waldemar Daninsky, now it’s your generic werewolf. Is the third time the charm for our furry friend, or will the Blind Dead be triumphant once more? You decide! Vote in the sidebar for your favourite, and while you’re at it, take a chance on the Critters vs. Firefly Clan bout.

Also, don’t forget to leave a comment or three letting the world know why you chose what you did. Now’s your chance to swing the vote of some wishy-washy fence-sitter.

Frankenstein Monsters Vs. Micheal Myers and Jason Voorhees

fvjvm

It’s old school versus new school as an assemblage of Frankenstein’s creations take to the streets in a good old chain rumble against modern-day boogeymen Micheal Myers and Jason Voorhees. I don’t know who’s going to win, but I’m guessing this will be one of the less talkative battles.

Vote in the sidebar for your favourite, and don’t forget to cast a vote for the last fight, Captain Howdy and The Blair Witch. That one is far closer than I imagined it would be.

Captain Howdy Vs. Blair Witch

captainhowdyvsblairwitch

Today’s match showcases two contenders who fell out of the ugly horror icon tree and hit every branch on the way down. It’s the techno-terror of Captain Howdy vs. the old school juju of the Blair Witch, no holds barred. Here to speak on behalf of the Blair Witch is Burkittsville finest, JA of My New Plaid Pants.

In all seriousness, who can beat the Blair Witch? Nobody stands a chance. Any foe will just be led in circles for days until they start hallucinating and completely lose their mind, and either hurt themselves or don’t see the real evil coming until its too late. Plus, cry-snot - nothing will bring any of these tough bastards down quicker than cry-snot.

You heard the man. Are you going to take that? No, you’re not going to take that. Anymore. Vote in the sidebar for the video nasty you most want to come out on top.

Leatherface Vs. Pinhead

leatherfacevspinhead

It’s time to get serious. The 10 remaining pugilists enter the ring for another round of fights, with the first match-up being that sexually confused Lone Star butcher, Leatherface, duking it out with his natural enemy, Hell’s metrosexual piercing fantatic, Pinhead. Snap into a Slim Jim! Dig It!

Don May, Jr., who originally envisioned the fight between Leatherface and Dollman, weighs in on his remaining champion’s chances of survival.

Pinhead would win against Leatherface because he could stand at a distance and make hooked chains fly out of something to get him. Poor Leatherface wouldn’t stand a chance because he’s have to get up close to Pinhead to use his weapon.

Don! You’ve totally cockblocked your own guy! What a turn of events, ladies and gentlemen! Never in the short history of the first annual Horror Blog Halloween Monster Rally have I seen such betrayal!

The Office Pool is now officially closed. Thanks to everyone who wrote in. Take a look at the post below to see the results of the first batch of fights and get an idea of what’s coming next.

Also ending is your chance to enter the Monster Rally Office Pool. Waldemar Daninsky Vs. The Blind Dead

daninskyvsblinddead

Here it is, the final battle in the first round of the first annual Horror Blog Halloween Monster Rally! Today you get to choose between two of Spain’s greatest combatants, reluctant werewolf Waldemar Daninsky duking it out with those rotting Templar heretics, the Blind Dead. Who’s going to be walking spanish this round? You decide! Vote in the sidebar for the eurosleaze icon you want to see come out on top.

While you’re at it, make sure you vote for yesterday’s clash between the Fireflys and the Sawyers. I have to admit, I’m a little shocked by the results so far. Fuck being impartial, vote Sawyers! And if you feel so inclined, shoot me an email at steven@thehorrorblog.com and cast your vote for who you think is going to come out on top at the end of this month for our office pool.

Firefly Clan Vs. Sawyer Clan

fireflyvssawyer

Somebody call Richard Dawson. Here’s a family feud that makes the Hatfields and McCoys look like amateurs. If you had to choose which redneck murderers would come out on top, which would it be, the Fireflys from The Devil’s Rejects or The Sawyers from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre? Vote for your favourite in the sidebar.

And while you’re at it, make sure to vote for your favourite in the big-hair royale rumble that is Captain Howdy vs. Sammi Curr. And don’t forget the Monster Rally contest, where all you have to do is email me at steven@thehorrorblog.com with who you think is going to come out on top in this monstrous competition and you’ll be eligible for some wicked DVDs.
